Castlerigg Stone Circle

The views from Castlerigg and the distant fells can be both atmospheric and dramatic, I particularly like the light and shadows on the distant fells in this image.

Reflections on Blea Tarn

Blea Tarn is stunning the stillness and reflections on the water of the Langdales and Side Pike on this morning make the shot for me. The early morning mist rising between Side Pike and the Langdale Pikes gives it a little mood.

River Brathay

I was trying for a sunrise shot this morning on the river Brathay, unfortunately, the sunrise I was hoping for did not happen but capturing the last colours of autumn on this stand of oak trees with the early morning mist in the background gives it a moody feeling.

Elterwater

This is a lovely view across Elterwater with the autumnal colours just starting to appear on the trees and the Langdale pikes in the distance.

Tarn How’s

An early morning start at Tarn Hows in the Lake District is never wasted, here the early morning sun is catching the left-hand side of the Scots pine on the little island with the fells in the background.

Hidden Cabin Tarn Hows

I have walked past this secluded cabin many times and not photographed it, however, the light on this particular morning was too good to miss with the autumnal colours on the trees and the reflections on the water.

Another Rainy Day

I love this image, I was on my way home from visiting Blea Tarn when I spotted this Herdie guarding the valley with a rain squall in the distance. This image reminded me of a sentry on guard, she is guarding her valley and fells.

Early Morning at Kelly Hall tarn

This is more of a pool than a tarn but that does not diminish its natural beauty, in the distance you can see Coniston Old Man.

The Langdales from Holme Fell

Holme Fell is one of my favourite places in the Lake District, the views are fantastic even when the weather turns bad. Luckily on this day, I had good weather.

Borrowdale Secret Mill

This historic watermill in Combe Gill Borrowdale has to be one of the most photographed watermills anywhere, and you can see why. The rugged rubblestone and slate building has loads of character with the stream and moss-covered rocks and wall in the foreground.

View from Black Crag

The views from Black Crag of the Lakeland fells are superb, in this picture I like the way the light is hitting the distant fells giving you the contrast between light and dark. Ambleside and Windemere can also be seen in the image.

Buttermere and Haystacks

This picture of Buttermere on a moody day with the clouds rolling in over Haystacks gives you the sense of ruggedness and awe of these Northern fells.

Ullswater Boat House

The Duke of Portland’s boat house sits on the edge of Ullswater and is easy to drive past, however driving past this day seeing some boats out on the lake and the light hitting the distant fells helped with the composition.
