Arten Gill Viaduct Dentdale

Arten Gill Viaduct is an eleven-arch railway bridge in Dentdale. The viaduct carries the Settle to Carlisle line over the Arten Gill beck

This is possibly the prettiest viaduct in the Yorkshire Dales captured here from the small bridge which crosses the river Dee.

Sunrise at Winskill Stones

There is a story to this picture, it came about due to me very early one morning (4 am) going to the bathroom, looking out of the window, seeing the sun had started to rise and the light was just too good to miss so I jumped in the car and drove to this beautiful lone tree at Winskill Stones in the Yorkshire dales.

The light was magical hitting Ingleborough and the rolling hills in the distance.

Sunset at Winskill Stones

This lone tree at Winskill Stones in the Yorkshire dales is fast becoming one of my favourite trees, set in an outcrop of limestone pavement this hawthorn tree offers many compositions. However, on this occasion a lone cow decided she also wanted to be in the picture, and I just couldn’t resist.

Craven Lime Works

Like so many others I have driven past the historic Craven Lime works many times and never noticed it. This image is of the Hoffman Kiln which is impressive to walk around, thinking back to the days when it was in full use I would not have liked to have worked here.

Pen y Ghent from Horton in Ribblesdale

As one of the Yorkshire Dales three peaks Pen Y Ghent is the lowest of the three at 2,277 feet, I had been walking along the banks of the river Ribble when I came across this composition. The light and shade enhance the picture showing off the colours of autumn on the trees.

Pen y Ghent from Crooke Gill

This view of Pen y Ghent was taken from the road between Stainforth and Litton looking over Crooke Gill. The distinct shape and scree and rock outcrops on the flank of the fell show up beautifully.

Stepping stones across The River Doe

On a beautiful sunny day, I couldn’t resist taking this picture of the stepping stones across the river Doe, the stepping stones form part of the Ingleton Waterfalls walk, and the contrast between light and shade caught my eye.

Ingleborough in Winter

Walking in the countryside after a snow fall opens up new possibilities for me, for me Ingleborough is the more picturesque of the three peaks and on this particular day looked majestic with its snow covering.

Ingleborough from Keld Head

Ingleborough stands proud above Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales, walking on Keld head the contrast of light in the foreground and on Ingleborough with dark stormy clouds helped with the composition. Ingleborough is the second highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales three peaks at 723 meters High.

Barns and walls Swaledale

Swaledale is possibly one of the prettiest of the Yorkshire dales with its many dry-stone walls and Barns.

Stone Walls & Barns Arncliffe

The beauty of the Yorkshire dales never disappoints me, around every corner and in every dale, there is something wonderful to see and photograph. The dry-stone walls and barns make this image with the light kissing the hillside across the valley.

Littondale

This was a day more for finding new locations to photograph, the stunning scenery of Litton Dale and the area did not disappoint, I will be revisiting Litton Dale many times to explore and photograph its beauty and history.

Sunset over Ingleton

I was sitting on a rock above Ingleton hoping for a sunset having seen a beautiful sunset the night before. I was lucky on this evening as the sunset developed better than I could have expected making this one of my favorite images.
